Editorial trashing of Trump was shameful No reason to keep burning rice fields

-

The Chico E-R should rename itself the mini-me Washington Post. Your October 11, 2020 trashing of President Trump is shameful and frankly libelous.

Not once did you mention Joe Biden’s knowledge and participation in the proven Russia fake witch hunt, covering up Hunter Biden’s $1.5 billion Ukraine deal, his prior endorsement of a segregationist, refusing to condemn Antifa rioters, intent to pack the Supreme Court with liberal judges, flip-flopping on fracking and pandering for the African-American and Latino vote.

But this is what the liberal media does, hides the facts to protect its own. Joe Biden is a prototypical career politician, he’s good at identifying issues that need to be addressed, but offers no solution to fix them. Joe Biden is corrupt, hasn’t accomplished a thing in 47 years as a politician, and I wouldn’t vote for the man to be dog catcher.

The Chico E-R obviously is out of touch with its sizable conservative base of subscribers. I would cancel my subscription right now if there was another local newspaper option that was not so left leaning.

Monday (Oct. 12) was the most perfect day. The sky was gloriously blue and the temperature perfect. For the first time in over a month, I could go outside and enjoy the day without smoke from all the wildfires. I could look down on the valley and see across to the coast range. Then, to my horror, the Butte and Glenn County rice growers started lighting their fields on fire! It wasn’t long until the sky was again filled with smoke and I was forced back inside, closing windows and turning on the air conditioner. Again because of smoke, I was a prisoner in my house.

What kind of insanity is this? There are well over one million people in the Sacramento Valley. To protect them from further lung damage, all burning of rice and wheat fields should be halted immediately. It is not necessary to burn the fields. This has been proven by my favorite rice family, the Lindberghs. I don’t want to hear about the high cost of not burning the fields. Perhaps some government subsidy monies (our money) should be used to plow the fields and flood them. Just because burning is expedient, doesn’t make it a good idea. How many more people with migrants, COPD, asthma, lung cancer, and other bronchial disorders have to suffer for expedience?

Please call Butte County Air Pollution Control (3329400 ext.102) and complain about the smoke. Let your voice be heard. We all have to breathe the air so let’s make it breathable.
