Born December 13, 1919 Died December 31, 2020 Virginia was born on December 13, 1919 in Sioux City, Iowa to Howard H. and May Ralya Sterling, the 10th of 12 children. Virginia passed away at home after a short decline in health.

She attended Crescent Park Elementary, North Junior High and Central High Schools in Sioux City. She also attended Phillips Business College in Sioux City.

She married Ernie A. Harrison on July 3, 1938, Meredith L. Foss on August 22, 1951 and Cornie DeRaad on March 11, 1978. All of them preceded her in death. In her youth she attended Crescent Park Methodist Church where she was church secretary for many years and sang in the choir. On March 26, 1977 she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints and was a devoted member until her death.

While in Sioux City she worked for T. S. Martin Co., Boulevard Foods and the City of Sioux City. After moving away from Sioux City, she lived in Torrance, California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Palm Springs, Sacramento and Oroville, California. She was employed by the City of Sioux City before moving to Phoenix, Arizona to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. From Phoenix, she transferre­d to Palm Springs and then to Sacramento, where she retired.

She then moved to Oroville where she enjoyed country living. Over the years, she taught arts and crafts to students in elementary and middle schools, 4-H members and many others including her own grandchild­ren. She also taught classes to adults, mostly at her church Relief Society meetings. Survivors include her son, Timothy J. Harrison (Loretta Humphrey) of Tucson, AZ, daughters, Nancy J. Callow and Caryl J. Netzley (Larry) both of Sacramento, CA, and Lauralee Bentz (Doug) of Durham, CA, 7 grandchild­ren, and 13 great grandchild­ren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters and 5 brothers. In lieu of flowers contributi­ons can be made to the Sterling Family Scholarshi­p at Butte College or your favorite charity.
