LORI CANNEY
On the thirteenth of December, 2020 we lost our beautiful Lori.
Lori existed for her family and friends. She wanted nothing more in life than to be surrounded by people and to share her love with them.
She was most proud of being Mom to her four daughters and Gramma to her five, and soon-tobe six, grandchildren. Before retirement, Lori worked for the Paradise Unified School District and considered her work as an instructional aide for special needs children an act of love and one of the most rewarding things she ever did. Lori had a smile that would light up any room. She loved a good game of Scrabble and was usually the winner. She loved to cook and sew. She helped organize an annual camping trip that has been on-going for 25 years where all of her family and friends gather for a week of fun on the beach. This was her idea of heaven.
Lori was a fighter and battled cancer for almost nine years, enduring countless treatments with grace and dignity. Even through all of this she looked for the beauty in life every day. She believed that, if you
y looked for them, God would “plunk” things down in your path. These could be things like a phone call from an old friend just when you needed it or a puppy that adopted her in Baja that turned into the best furry friend ever.
Lori was born in Santa Monica, CA on June 9th, 1959, the third of four children to Joseph and Phyllis Siegfried. She met the love of her life, Pat Canney, in Riverside, CA. They were married on March 24, 1979 and lived in Riverside for several years before moving with two young children to Paradise, CA. Lori and Pat lived in Paradise for over 30 years where they raised their four daughters and enjoyed a wonderful community where they lived among many family and great friends. They were blessed to have found Hope Christian Church there where they made many Forever Friends.
Lori and Pat relocated to Brookings, OR after the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA where they fulfilled their dream of living on the coast. They have many great friends and wonderful neighbors there that have helped make it feel like home. Lori will be incredibly missed by her family and a multitude of friends whom she considered family. Her husband, Pat, of 41 years, daughters and son-in-laws: Heather and Gabe Lund of Novato, CA, Eileen and Andrew Linnehan of Chicago, IL, Stacy Canney of Portland, OR, and Alanna and Mikey Rademacher of Chico, CA; grandchildren: Ruby and Leo of Novato, CA, Lila and Parker of Chicago, IL, Arlo of Portland, OR, and Piper of Chico, CA, brother Daniel Siegfried and sister-in-law Katie of Oroville, CA, sisters: Rebecca and brother-inlaw Gregg of Brooklyn, NY, and Christina Krieger of Paradise, CA, sister-inlaw Kelly Fitch and husband Dennis of Red Bluff, CA, brother-in-law Sean Canney of Roseville, CA, and brother-in-law Gary Beatty and wife Colleen of Riverside, CA.
There was no better feeling than to be loved by Lori. If she were still with us she’d say to never miss a chance to say I love you, offer a smile or kind word and hold those you love close. In this way Lori will live on in all of us.
Pat and the family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of prayers, well wishes, food, and lodging during this difficult time. Bless you all.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when everyone can gather together safely. Donations may be to the Special Olympics.
