BCSO: Search for missing Oroville woman continues
OAKLAND » Tatiana Dugger, 18, is still missing more than a week after her Oroville family filed a missing person report with the Oakland Police Department. Now, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead on the investigation, saying on Tuesday they are actively looking for the missing teenager.
Dugger last spoke to her siblings on Friday, Jan. 9, according to a Facebook post. She was in East Oakland at the time with a man named “Marcos,” and last seen early Saturday, Jan. 10 at approximately 2 a.m. She did not return to the hotel she was staying in, and all of her belongings remained at the hotel, according to the post. Her phone has also been turned off, going straight to voicemail since Jan. 10.
Dugger is described as 5-foot-6, weighing approximately 130 to 135 pounds, with brown eyes, “always wearing very big eyelashes,” and brown hair with reddish color on the ends.
According to a BCSO press release, on Jan. 13 the Oakland Police Department requested the Butte County Sheriff’s Office assume jurisdiction of the missing person investigation because Dugger’s family resides in the county. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Dugger moved from Butte County to Los Angeles
approximately three months ago.
On the afternoon of Jan. 13, BCSO detectives interviewed Dugger’s family members and began conducting an investigation. Subsequently, detectives located evidence, including phone records, confirming Dugger’s last known location was in Oakland.
Detectives have also been in contact with the Oakland Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. All of the information BCSO detectives obtained during their follow-up investigation has also been provided to Oakland police detectives and Alameda County District Attorney inspectors.
The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with additional information regarding Dugger’s location to contact detectives at 530-538-7671 or 530-538-7322.
The family has also launched a GoFundMe page for the purpose of hiring a private investigator in the case. A description for the page reads, “While our family will continue to actively search for her and do everything we can, we now feel it’s necessary to hire a professional private investigator.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, it had raised more than $7,000 of its $10,000 goal.
