The outbreak of COVID-19 has rapidly changed everyday life in Butte County. It is a quick-moving situation in which it is important to stay informed. This is a list of basic information and resources. It will be updated.

By the numbers (through Thursday)

Butte County: 10,824 confirmed cases (increase of 19 from Wednesday), 1,665 probable cases with 21 hospitalized, 167 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Glenn County: 2,193 confirmed cases (increase of one from Wednesday), 518 probable cases with six hospitalized, 23 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Tehama County: 5,118 confirmed cases (increase of 14 from Wednesday) with three hospitalized, 52 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Vaccinations

In December 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued two emergency use authorizations for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 16 years of age and older, allowing the PfizerBioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be distributed. On Feb. 27, the FDA issued a EUA for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, becoming the third vaccine authorized in the U.S.

Local counties are receiving weekly vaccine allocations from the California Department of Public Health and prioritizing vaccinations to their most vulnerable residents by age and sector, including, though not limited to, health care, essential emergency services and education. Numbers below reflect their progress so far.

Butte County: 58,374 doses administered (25,706.9 per 100,000 residents).

Glenn County: 5,766 doses administered (20,668.9 per 100,000 residents).

Tehama County: 9,844 doses administered (15,533.4 per 100,000 residents).

How do I get tested?

To set up an appointment to get tested by OptumServe at the 900 Mangrove Ave. in Chico, visit https:// lhi.care/covidtesting or call 1-888-634-1123. No payment is necessary; your insurance will be billed or, if you have no insurance, the cost is picked up by the state.

In addition to the Chico location, Glenn County has an OptumServe site at Orland Memorial Hall, located at 320 Third St.
