A recent letter to the E-R by Bill Monroe pleaded with readers not to sign the petition to recall Governor Newsom. Monroe, a local Democrat activist, implied that recalling Newsom is somehow undemocratic. Monroe based his urging on his belief that Newsom is the target of a recall “because of his COVID prevention actions.” This is patently not true!
News flash! This is the third effort by voters in California to recall Newsom. The first two were before COVID was even on the radar. Newsom has done nothing but damage to the state and his citizens since he has been in office. A recent letter to the E-R by another writer provided a very long list of Newsom’s follies. No need to repeat them here. Suffice it to opine that Newsom has done more for the citizens of other countries and citizens of our jails/prisons than he has done for most native, law-abiding citizens of California.
To characterize those pushing for the recall as being a “fringe” segment of our population is also not true. Over 1.5 million signatures have so far been signed. Hardly a “fringe”! They represent 1.5 million citizens who are fed up with downward spiral this state has suffered while being ruled by Democrats like Newsom for too many years.
I write this in all sincerity as a native Californian; not a mid-western transplant.
Vote to recall Gavin Newsom!
