The outbreak of COVID-19 has rapidly changed everyday life in Butte County. It is a quick-moving situation in which it is important to stay informed. This is a list of basic information and resources. It will be updated.

By the numbers (through Wednesday)
Butte County: 10,882 confirmed cases (increase of six from Tuesday), 1,676 probable cases with 21 hospitalized, 170 deaths (increase of one from Tuesday). Current tier: red.
Glenn County: 2,210 confirmed cases (increase of six from Tuesday), 523 probable cases with four hospitalized, 23 deaths. Current tier: purple.
Tehama County: 5,136 confirmed cases (no update since Tuesday) with three hospitalized, 52 deaths. Current tier: purple.
Vaccinations
In December 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued two emergency use authorizations for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 16 years of age and older, allowing the PfizerBioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be distributed. On Feb. 27, the FDA issued a EUA for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, becoming the third vaccine authorized in the U.S.
Local counties are receiving weekly vaccine allocations from the California Department of Public Health and prioritizing vaccinations to their most vulnerable residents by age and sector, including, though not limited to, health care, essential emergency services and education. Numbers below reflect their progress so far.
Butte County: 64,437 doses administered (28,377 per 100,000 residents).
Glenn County: 6,660 doses administered (23,873.5 per 100,000 residents).
Tehama County: 11,028 doses administered (17,401.7 per 100,000 residents).

How do I get tested?
To set up an appointment to get tested by OptumServe at the 900 Mangrove Ave. in Chico, visit lhi.care/ covidtesting or call 1-888634-1123. No payment is necessary; your insurance will be billed or, if you have no insurance, the cost is picked up by the state.
In addition to the primary Chico location, Butte County has two “traveling testing sites” with limited appointment availability. One is located at Chico State’s Shurmer Gymnasium, near the intersection of West First and Warner streets, and is open every Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Durham Memorial Hall, located at 9319 Midway in Durham, also has a site open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Glenn County also has an OptumServe site at Orland Memorial Hall, located at 320 Third St.
Coronavirus testing also available at Immediate Care in Chico, 376 Vallombrosa Ave., 891-1676; and also at all Ampla locations. The number in Chico is 3424395 and the number in Oroville is 534-7500.
