Chico State announces up to 50% in-person classes

Numbers up from 20-30% announced back in February

- Staff reports

With the release of the fall 2021 course schedule, Chico State announced on Monday that nearly 50 percent of the university’s 4,100-plus course sections for the fall semester would be either fully in-person or include a partial in-person component.

The announcement comes as an increase to inperson class numbers after Chico State announced Feb. 8 that it was planning for 20 to 30 percent of fall 2021 classes to have at least partial in-person learning.

“These planning measures — along with other efforts like vaccines for faculty and staff, increased on-campus COVID-19 testing, investments in classroom technology and WiFi, and installation of other protective steps like more than 1,300 sanitizer stations and directional traffic markings — reflect the proactive steps that Chico State is taking for a safe return to campus in the fall,” Chico State said in a press release on Monday.

Possible in-person components include lectures and laboratories, studios, activities and supervision courses, however the press release stated that in-person classes will vary by individual college as well as course learning outcomes.

Registration dates for students attending classes in the fall begins on April 26 and runs through May 21, with new student orientation happening from June 7 until Aug. 4.

The first day of classes for students attending classes both virtually and in person is on Aug. 23.
