Vaccine eligibility expands

Butte County Public Health: First doses of COVID-19 vaccine now open for those who are 50 and older

- Staff reports

CHICO >> With several more COVID-19 first dose vaccination clinics scheduled in both Chico and Oroville, Butte County Public Health has opened vaccine eligibility to people 50 years of age and older who either reside or work in the county.

The Friday announcement take effect immediately for first dose clinics, including ones scheduled for next week.

In Chico, community vaccination clinics are scheduled for March 22-24 at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds by appointment only. Eligibility is open to all previously-approved sectors in addition to people 50 and older. Appointments can be scheduled online at myturn.ca.gov. Those who need assistance or do not have internet may call the Enloe scheduling hotline at 530-332-9520 or the county’s COVID-19 Call Center at 530-552-3050.

Specific to the Chico clinics now using MyTurn to schedule appointments, Butte County Public Health advised, “Due to a current limitation within the state’s online scheduling system, MyTurn, persons who are 50 (and older) will need to check the ’65-74 age range option to get the scheduling process started. You will then be prompted to enter your date of birth at which time you will enter your actual date of birth (the 65-74 age option is only to get the process started, use your real date of birth after that point). Your date of birth will be used to verify eligibility when you arrive at the vaccination clinic.”

In Oroville, community vaccination clinics are scheduled for 24-25 at Oroville Sports Club by appointment only. Eligibility is

the same as the Chico clinics. Appointments can be scheduled online at www. signupgenius.com/go/ 4090A4FADAE2DAAF58oroville5. Those who need assistance or do not have internet may call the county’s COVID-19 Call Center at 530-552-3050.

More information on the COVID-19 vaccine, including a comprehensive list of all sectors currently eligible for vaccination, can be found on Butte County Public Health’s website at www.buttecounty.net/ph/COVID19/vaccine.
