Suzanne Marie Brown passed away peacefully, surrounded with love by her family and cat Honey, on February 15th, 2021. A celebration of life will be held in early summer of 2021. She passed away after a valiant battle against cancer for almost two years. Her ashes will be placed in a Burney, CA cemetery.

Sue was born July 25, 1949 at Enloe Hospital to Edward and Genevieve Brown.

She graduated from Chico High school in 1967. After graduation she attended Butte College while it was still in Durham. While attending Butte College she started working as a student aide. She was soon employed as a secretary, then Division secretary. After the college moved to the new location she continued her employment. Sue was promoted through various departments until her retirement from Human Resources, with over thirty years of service. She received the special "What Would We Do Without You?" Award by her colleagues at Butte College. She was admired and adored by her coworkers and friends there, and served the college in so many important ways. In 1972, she married Dennis Frey and together they had a daughter Heather, who was her pride and joy.

During the college years and beyond Sue enjoyed participating in local craft shows with her family. Sewing was her specialty, and she was known for her Aunt SueSu’s little girls’ aprons. Together with her mother, known as the “Kitchen Chicks”, they did many craft fairs selling their creations. For a few years she and her mother bought and sold collectables in the Chico and Paradise area. Several Christmas seasons found her baking cookies with her family to deliver to first responders, veteran organizations and teen centers, in the Carson City, Nevada and Chico area. One year, they made over 218 dozen cookies for donation.

Sue also enjoyed volunteering for the Glenn County Literacy Project, which was directed by her daughter at the time. Sue read books to children, tutored them with their schoolwork, and worked the information booth and various community events.

After retirement, she enjoyed regular luncheons with other Butte College retirees and crafty friends. Additionally, she enjoyed trips to the casino to play Pai Gow with her sister and brother-inlaw, Jeanne and Ron Brunk.

As a descendent of the Pulaski Brown setters of early Centerville, CA, she

y enjoyed researching their history.
