January 20, 1954 – March 12, 2021 (age 67) Edward Ray Brown, 67, of Chico, California, left his Earthly bonds for a better place on March 12, 2021.

Ed was born at Mercy Hospital in Red Bluff, California, January 20, 1954, a son of Mary and Earl Brown.

He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1972 and went on to attend Butte College, where he played collegiate baseball. While there, he was scouted by and signed by the Houston Astros minor league baseball team. He played two years with the Covington Astros in 1973 and 1974 in the Appalachia­n league. He batted a .328 average with an on-base percentage of .453. He had one career homerun and one stolen base in his 61 at bats.

He returned to California and started a cabinet making business. His work was prized by clients all over Chico. He married Marilyn Oliveira who preceded him in death. He later met and wed Elizabeth Ornelles, and had two beautiful children, a girl named Casey and a boy named Tyler.

Ed loved music and playing his guitars. He also loved working and repairing bicycles. He was often seen peddling all over Chico.

Ed is survived by his children, Casey Brown of Cincinnati, OH and Tyler Brown of Loveland, OH, his sister, Debbie DiGiordano (Mike) and a brother, Steve Brown (Patty), both of Chico. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Gus Axtman and Step mother Wanda Brown.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are being handled by Bidwell Chapel. The family will hold a private memorial service.
