The outbreak of COVID-19 has rapidly changed everyday life in Butte County. It is a quick-moving situation in which it is important to stay informed. This is a list of basic information and resources. It will be updated.

By the numbers (through Tuesday)

Butte County: 11,012 confirmed cases (increase of 15 from Monday), 1,703 probable cases with 10 hospitalized, 173 deaths. Current tier: red.

Glenn County: 2,242 confirmed cases (increase of two from Monday), 547 probable cases with six hospitalized, 24 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Tehama County: 5,237 confirmed cases (increase of 24 from Friday) with five hospitalized, 54 deaths. Current tier: red.

Vaccinations

In December 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued two emergency use authorizations for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 16 years of age and older, allowing the PfizerBioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be distributed. On Feb. 27, the FDA issued a EUA for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, becoming the third vaccine authorized in the U.S.

Local counties are receiving weekly vaccine allocations from the California Department of Public Health and prioritizing vaccinations to their most vulnerable residents by age and sector. Numbers below reflect their progress so far.

Butte County: 85,371 doses administered (37,595.9 per 100,000 residents).

Glenn County: 9,154 doses administered (32,813.6 per 100,000 residents).

Tehama County: 14,423 doses administered (22,758.9 per 100,000 residents).

How do I get tested?

To set up an appointment to get tested by OptumServe at the 900 Mangrove Ave. in Chico, visit lhi.care/ covidtesting or call 1-888634-1123. No payment is necessary; your insurance will be billed or, if you have no insurance, the cost is picked up by the state.

In addition to the primary Chico location, Butte County has three “traveling testing sites” with limited appointment availability each week:

• Gridley, Orchard Hospital: Monday, 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

• Oroville, OUHSD Transportation Office: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

• Durham, Durham Memorial Hall: Wednesday, 10a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Chico, Shurmer Gymnasium, Chico State: Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Glenn County also has an OptumServe site at Orland Memorial Hall, located at 320 Third St.
