MARION LEE GEIGER

-

Marion Lee (neé Wilson) Geiger died peacefully at home on December 9, 2020 surrounded by family. She was a month shy of turning 96.

Marion, born January 4, 1925 to Ed and Ethel Wilson, spent her early years in Chico joined by brother Richard when she was eight. The family moved to Eureka in the early 1930’s.

She met Ken Geiger before World War II, but they didn’t let a war stop them from getting married on January 29, 1944. They took their vows in Phoenix where Ken was in Air Force training. Marion and Ken were married 76 years.

Marion returned to Eureka, where their eldest daughter Lee Ann was born while Ken was at war. Jan and Ken (Jr.) followed when they were reunited. Jan’s Cake Box bakery was a family affair with Marion helping out in addition to raising the kids.

The family moved to Oroville in the late 1960’s where Ken joined the family rice farming business. Lake Oroville provided endless entertainment and family outings. Marion and Ken moved to Chico in 1999.

Marion was joyful and outgoing and loved playing the piano, gardening, and cooking. She participated and volunteered in many local service groups including the Children’s Home Society, her Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and Jobs Daughters.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ken, children Lee Ann and Ken Jr., and brother Richard. She is survived by daughter Jan Passmore; grandchildren Samantha Carter, Chris and Annalise Passmore and Scott Gilbert; great grandchildren Alexis (Austin) Gillies and Drew Bisson; and great great grandchildren Tristan, Kamden and Bristol Gillies.

Marion had an easy laugh and a generous heart, she will be missed and always loved.
