Don’t buy this spin from LaMalfa

-

If political spin is an art form then Congressman LaMalfa is Picasso. Painting a picture of the American Rescue Act, LaMalfa’s brushes are incendiary lies, distortions and half truths.

While all the claims are disingenuous, one is classic LaMalfa.

”It’s about a bridge for Chuck Schumer, a tunnel for Nancy Pelosi!”

It’s not a mystery why LaMalfa is making the PelosiSchumer argument. The repetitive mention of their names provide the stimuli that automatically elicits frothing anger.

Fact: The bridge connects New York and Canada and sits in the district of Rep. Elise Stefanik, N.Y., a key defender of President Trump. The “tunnel” is part of a grant for a 6-mile extension of the Bay Area Rapid Transit system located in the district of Representative Zoe Lofgren.

LaMalfa knows Pelosi and Schumer have zero to do with this. As a member of the Transportation Committee he approved both projects last spring.

That LaMalfa is treating this as unusual or inappropriate is positively bizarre. He said nothing when Trump demanded an expanded tax deduction for corporate meals that would fatten expense accounts and enrich his properties. It’s hard to come up with a provision more tonedeaf then Trump’s three martini lunch.

When Trump attempted to tie elimination of Section 230 (social media liability) to the defense bill, an overwhelming majority overrode his veto but, not LaMalfa. He supported Trump proclaiming, “The final bill did nothing to address section 230.”

DeJa Vu. This is quintessential LaMalfa hypocrisy.
