Son, grandson witnesses to Wedow’s ace

The Canyon Oaks Senior Men’s Club held its monthly Senior Sweeps Tournament last week. The format was a 3-man, one best-ball, Stableford, scoring 1 point for net bogey, 2 points for par, 4 points for birdie and 6 points for eagle.

Finishing on top of the leader board with 61 points was the team of

Randy Gray, Greg Smith and Dave Wood. Taking second was the team of Scott Borges, Alex McKenzie and Lou Radisich with 55 points. Finishing in the third spot was the team of Larry Long, George Palmer and Terry Taylor. Closest to the pin winners: No. 3, Borges; No. 6, Borges; No. 11, Smith; No. 14, Hal Sinclair.

The Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club played a game of “Five and Four” for its weekly tournament format. The game scores were on holes 1 to 5, and 15 to

18.

Butte Creek CC

Mark Blofsky and

Mike Bechtol teamed up to win the blue-white combo flight in the Butte Creek Senior Men’s Club monthly tournament with a net score of 63.2.

The format was a twoman scramble and each player was required to use his tee shot a minimum of six times.

Taking second was the

team of John MacTavish and Ed Anderson, 63.7. Royal Hawkley and Rob Sylvester shot a score of 65.35 for third place. Dave Smith and Paul Ellcessor won the white tee flight with a score of 62.35. Jim Gaumer and Tom Beckman finished second at 66.5. Taking third was the team of Art Gausemel and Chuck Hodel.

The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club held an

ABC Tournament for its weekly outing.

No. 1, Karla Dreiss, Darlene Thomasson and a blind draw, 57; 2, Karen Beckman, Marilyn Winterstei­n and a blind draw, 62; 3, Jeanie Lowe, Joye Smith and Marilyn Brownfield, 63.

Bidwell Park GC

Kelly MacKinnon was once again low gross in the first flight of the Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club weekly tournament with a score of 88.

The game was “Triple 3s”, counting the low three scores on the par 3s, par 4s and par 5s.

Table Mountain GC

Sherrie Sue was low gross in the Table Mountain Women’s Golf Club tournament, breaking 80 with a fine score of 79.

Pam Weichert turned in the low net score of 75.

The game was “Field Shots”, eliminatin­g putts from the game score.

Spectacula­r shots

Fran Wedow aced the 11th hole at Canyon Oaks last week. Witnessing Wedow’s perfect 143-yard, 25-degree hybrid tee shot was her husband, Mike, her son, Bret and her grandson, Jaret. Three generation­s … that’s pretty special.

Larry Medrano scored his second career hole-inone last week, this time on the second hole at Bidwell. Witnessing Medrano’s 128-yard, 7-iron tee shot find the bottom of the cup was his playing companion, Martin Rodriquez.
