Braves wrap up season undefeated

Butte cross-country wins at Shasta College

The Hamilton High volleyball team completed an undefeated season after wins against Paradise on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Braves topped the Bobcats 3-0 Tuesday in Paradise then won 3-1 in the rematch Wednesday in Hamilton City to cap off the abbreviate­d season.

On Wednesday, Hamilton won 28-30, 25-23, 25-15 and 27-25.

Rylee Engel had 31 assists and six aces, Maddy Pankratz had 15 kills, Erika Sanchez added 12 digs and six aces and Kembly Gonzalez tallied 12 digs for the Braves.

On Tuesday, Hamilton swept Paradise 25-16, 25-20 and 26-24.

Annie Belter led with eight kills and four blocks, Pankratz added seven kills and 10 digs and Sanchez collected five aces. Hamilton finished the year 6-0. Durham 3, Orland 1: Durham topped Orland 21-25, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-16 Wednesday on the road.

Karena Bryant led Durham with 15 kills and 10 aces, Bella Pendley tallied nine digs and Abby Thorpe provided 14 assists.

Durham (4-0) will take on Oroville at home on Wednesday.

Prep baseball

Pleasant Valley 14, Marysville 2: PV’s Ian Guanzon finished 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four runs scored and three RBIs.

Carter Lyons was 2-for-4 with a double. Cole Banning also added a double and two RBIs. Trent Van Nuys and Spencer Heath each provided two RBIs.

Pitcher RJ Priddy allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five in five innings.

PV (4-0) plays at Yuba City on April 23.

College cross-country

Butte wins at Shasta College: The Butte College men’s crosscount­ry team won Wednesday at Shasta College. The Roadrunner­s was led by Bailey Rockholt who finished the course in 17 minutes, 58 seconds to take first place.

Butte’s Andre Mota placed fifth in 19:17.

Butte College did not field a women’s team.
