Giants beat Rockies on Crawford’s 3-run shot

Brandon Crawford delivered the big blow for the second straight day Saturday, hitting a three-run home run in the sixth inning to help provide a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies at Oracle Park.

It was Crawford who’s bases loaded double on Opening Day gave Johnny Cueto all he needed to win Friday.

It was Crawford’s first home run of the season for the San Francisco Giants, who improved to 5-3. Reliever Caleb Baragar, the first of four relievers after starter Logan Webb went five innings, got the win to improve to 2-0.

Baragar was followed by scoreless innings from Reyes Moronta, Tyler Rogers and finally Jake McGee for his fourth save.

Crawford’s blast to right field came against reliever Ben Bowden (0-1), who came on in relief of starter Chi Chi Gonzalez.

Bowden walked both Alex Dickerson and pinch-hitter Wilmer Flores to bring up Crawford, who up to that point was 0-for-10 against left-handed pitching.

Crawford teed off on a 3-2 pitch, sending it in to the arcade and giving the Giants a one-run lead.

Gonzalez pitched five innings and gave up four hits and

one earned run with three walks and a strikeout. Colorado fell to 3-6 with the loss.

Colorado took a 3-1 lead against Webb in the fifth inning on McMahon’s tworun, two-out home run to center field. McMahon’s

blast scored Rodriguez, who hit a one-out single from the No. 9 hole.

That was it for Webb, who walked two and struck out six in five innings and kept the Giants’ streak alive of having their starter go at least five innings and give up three or fewer runs in every game this season.

The Rockies tied it in the top of the fourth against Webb on Raimel Tapia’s

run-scoring single. It scored Charlie Blackmon, who reached on a one-out double.

Dickerson’s bloop single to left drove in Tommy La Stella in the bottom of the third with the first run of the game.

La Stella, who missed Friday’s game with a sore back, led off with a double to left center and was followed by a line out by Mike Yastrzemski.

Then Dickerson, who in his first at-bat also lined out to Colorado first baseman C.J. Cron, hit a flare which dropped in between left fielder Ramiel Tapia and Josh Fuentes at third. La Stella, running all the way, scored easily.

Evan Longoria followed with a single to left, with Dickerson thrown out at third in a bit of dubious base running with no slide.
