The outbreak of COVID-19 has rapidly changed everyday life in Butte County. It is a quick-moving situation in which it is important to stay informed. This is a list of basic information and resources. It will be updated.

By the numbers (through Monday)

Butte County: 11,295 confirmed cases (increase of 21 from Friday), 1,750 probable cases with three hospitalized, 181 deaths (increase of three from Friday). Current tier: orange.

Glenn County: 2,290 confirmed cases (increase of six from Friday), 568 probable cases with two hospitalized, 25 deaths. Current tier: red.

Tehama County: 5,359 confirmed cases (increase of 34 from Friday) with three hospitalized, 56 deaths. Current tier: red.

Vaccinations

In December 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued two emergency use authorizations for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 16 years of age and older, allowing the PfizerBioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be distributed. On Feb. 27, the FDA issued a EUA for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, becoming the third vaccine authorized in the U.S.

Local counties are receiving weekly vaccine allocations from the California Department of Public Health and prioritizing vaccinations to their most vulnerable residents by age and sector. By April 15, all California residents 16 and older will be eligible for vaccination. Numbers below reflect their progress so far.

Butte County: 113,279 doses administered. 20.8% of residents fully vaccinated. 30.7% of residents received at least one dose.

Glenn County: 12,609 doses administered. 18.6% of residents fully vaccinated. 29.2% of residents of residents received at least one dose.

Tehama County: 19,899 doses administered. 11.7% of residents fully vaccinated. 20.4% of residents received at least one dose.

How do I get tested?

To set up an appointment to get tested by OptumServe at the 900 Mangrove Ave. in Chico, visit lhi.care/covidtesting or call 1-888-634-1123. No payment is necessary; your insurance will be billed or, if you have no insurance, the cost is picked up by the state.

In addition to the primary Chico location, Butte County has three “traveling testing sites” with limited appointment availability each week:

• Gridley, Orchard Hospital: Monday, 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

• Oroville, OUHSD Transportation Office: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

• Durham, Durham Memorial Hall: Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Chico, Shurmer Gymnasium, Chico State: Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Glenn County also has an OptumServe site at Orland Memorial Hall, located at 320 Third St.
