Fourth clinic is announced for North Valley Indian Health

CHICO >> A second Northern Valley Indian Health clinic will be located at Meriam Park in Chico.

The 20,540-square-foot facility was announced Monday. The health care service says it will provide medical, behavioral health and outreach services and space for specialty care.

Constructi­on began in March and is expected to be completed by summer 2022, handled by Chico-based constructi­on company Slater & Son and local architect and engineerin­g firm Nichols, Melburg & Rossetto, another Chico-based company, served as the architect and engineerin­g firm.

Inder Wadhwa, CEO of Northern Valley Indian Health, said in a news release, “2021 marks 50 years of business for NVIH and we are proud to have the ability to expand our health care coverage as we continue to provide the most advanced services to the underserve­d population­s and all members of our community.”

The new location on Concord Avenue will be the provider’s fourth clinic located in Chico, with West East Avenue, Cohasset Road and Springfiel­d Drive clinics continuing current operations.

The new clinic will serve existing medical and behavioral health patients while adding capacity for new patients and providing 35-45 additional career opportunit­ies, according to a news release.

Northern Valley Indian Health consists of a consortium of tribes: the Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria, the Grindstone Indian Rancheria of Wintun-Wailaki Indians, the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and the Kletsel Dehe Band of Wintun Indians.
