Evacuation ordered and then lifted; fire in Thermalito held to 11 acres
THERMALITO >> A fire at 14th Street and Grand Avenue in Thermalito caused the Butte County Sheriff’s Office to issue an evacuation order Tuesday that was lifted at 12:50 p.m.
The 14th Fire grew to 11.5 acres, but firefighters from Cal Fire-Butte County were able to extinguish it before it grew larger, according to the incident report from the fire agency.
Firefighters were expected to be at the scene to continue “mop up” for several hours.
The Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order for the area between Nelson and Grand avenues and between approximately Eighth Street and the southern portion of 16th Street, with the northern portion of that street under an evacuation warning which cuts back partially to around the 14th street area. The Sheriff’s Office expanded the order to the include the area under evacuation warning briefly, but ended all evacuation orders and warnings for the 14th Fire around 12:50 p.m.
No structures were damaged by the flames.

An evacuation order means there is an immediate threat to life. It is a lawful order to leave. The area is lawfully closed to public access.
An evacuation warning means there is a potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave immediately.
