Free health clinic seeks to serve 650

CHICO » The California CareForce health clinic will be held at the Silver Dollar Fairground­s Nov. 12-14.

Along with more than 350 volunteer health care profession­als from throughout California, Butte County Public Health will provide health education and resources at this year’s event which opens at 7 a.m. all three days. The fairground gates will open at 4 a.m. to allow access to parking.

It’s anticipate­d that the free clinic will provide services to approximat­ely 650 people per day on a fist come, first served basis. Those attending the clinic for services do not need proof of insurance, employment, income, residency, immigratio­n status or an ID.

All patients will be required to have completed a full COVID-19 vaccinatio­n series prior to receiving care at the 2021 Chico Clinic and proof of vaccinatio­n will be required. If a patient has not been vaccinated, the patient must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of clinic service. All patients will undergo a COVID-19 screening (questionna­ire and temperatur­e check) upon entering the clinic. Any patient with positive COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the clinic and will be referred within the county for follow-up care.

BCPH will provide onsite resources from several programs including Tobacco Cessation, Oral Health, Opioid Misuse Prevention and Treatment, STD Prevention and vaccinatio­ns for both COVID-19 and influenza. COVID-19 vaccines will be available Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including Pfizer (ages 12+), Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

Additional services from providers include a vision lab with free prescripti­on eyeglasses and dentistry services with x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extraction­s. Medical doctors will provide consultati­ons, general health exams, and chiropract­ic services will also be available at the clinic.

Profession­al volunteers are still needed in numerous capacities including oral surgeons, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental x-ray techs, ophthalmol­ogists, optometris­ts, opticians, ophthalmic techs, RNs, doctors, EMTs, nurse practition­ers, pharmacist­s, acupunctur­ists and chiropract­ors. General volunteers are also still needed to assist in various roles throughout the clinic.

This clinic is made possible by donations from CareForce sponsors including America’s Tires — Driven to Care Foundation, North Valley Community Foundation and Butte Strong Fund, American Red Cross, Golden Valley Bank. This clinic is a collaborat­ion with Placer-Nevada and Yuba-Sutter-Colusa Medical Society, Butte-Glenn Medical Society, Enloe Medical Center and Butte County Public Health.
