Fighting terror with terror gets us nowhere

-

This is a very slow response to Tom Neill’s 9/18 letter accusing me of lying about President Carter’s National Security Advisor Zbig Brzezinski enticing the Soviets into Afghanistan in 1979, to give them their Vietnam.

I was not lying. I heard Brzezinski say that he enticed the Soviets into Afghanistan to give them their Vietnam in an interview on PBS Charlie Rose in the early 2000’s. There are transcripts. Or read the Brzezinski interview, https://dgibbs. faculty.arizona.edu/brzezinski_interview. Or read Wikipedia, Operation Cyclone.

You also did not believe that the Taliban was willing to hand over bin Laden. The Taliban was willing to hand over bin Laden, but only to a neutral country.

Most Establishment media, the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, and NPR have a predetermined narrative for their world reporting, omitting inconvenient facts. Conservative media is likely to be the same … or worse.

This makes it difficult to have an informed citizenry, but change is not likely.

For those concerned about Afghan women, Read this New Yorker article, “The Other Afghan Women In the countryside, the endless killing of civilians turned women against the occupiers who claimed to be helping them.”

Seventy percent of Afghan women live in rural areas. Their lives were made hellish by the US invasion. The US is creating more terror as it “fights” terror throughout the world.

Blowback may make the future unlivable, too many wrecked countries, too many refugees.
