DORINE ELLEN WRIGHT

October 26, 1934 to May 5, 2022

-

Dorine E. Wright peacefully completed her earthly journey and went home to heaven at sunrise on May 5, 2022, at the age of 87.

Dorine was born in Monroe, Oregon. She grew up in a Christian family who were devoted to church life, to music and to hosting traveling evangelists and Pastors. She moved to Chico with her parents at the age of 19.

As a young woman she worked at Chico Hardware, KHSL Television station and Bank of America in Paradise. She met her husband Lowell in 1969. She loved the country life she shared with her farmerhusband and helped him by taking care of the farm’s bookkeeping.

Their home was always open to friends, neighbors and family, the 60-cup coffee urn was always hot and decks of cards on the table ready to be dealt. Dorine and Lowell loved to travel, spend time at the

cabin at Lake Almanor, enjoyed trips to Reno and special cruises that they took with dear friends

from Neighborhood Church. Otherwise, they were very content to just take a little drive together somewhere.

Dorine loved to can, bake and to cook for large gatherings at the holidays. She especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time together.

After Lowell passed away, Dorine loved spending time at her little place in Fort Bragg with her dear friend Dixie. She also made many special holiday trips to Fort Bragg with her son, Deryl. She and Deryl enjoyed life and always had a blast together! Dorine also enjoyed many fun times with her dear friend Ruth and felt blessed that they were neighbors.

Dorine’s faith grew stronger through her life and she found the Lord to be a joy and a comfort in her years of living alone. She was not shy about her faith and shared passionately and boldly with those she would come to know.

Dorine is survived by her children: Cheryl (James) McCann of Manteca, CA; Teryl (Tom) Sundquist of Rocklin, CA; Deryl Northcote of Chico, CA and her step-daughter Adrienne (Mike) Barham of Sparks, NV.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Sundquist (Mayrav Herman), Steven Sundquist (Brittney Bennett), Stacey (Brit) Boehmer; greatgrandson Micah Boehmer, and a recently announced baby boy to Ryan and Mayrav due this fall.

Dorine is preceded in death by her husband Lowell A. Wright; her parents Alvin and Helen Taylor; and her brothers Donald Taylor and Richard Taylor.

A viewing will be held on May 16th from 10:00 to 10:30 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home, 680 Camelia Way, Chico, CA. Burial will follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Enloe Hospital Hospice Care. Dorine’s obituary may be viewed and condolences sent online at nbcfh.com.
