How Lucero, Ritter have earned support

-

The exercise of democracy requires balance between competing interests. To that end representatives elected by the people should reflect the interests of all of the people. In Butte County the distribution of voters registered to the two major political parties is close to equal so it follows that the distribution of Board of Supervisors members should most nearly mirror that distribution even though they each occupy a non-partisan position.

In a healthy democracy there should be thorough and vigorous debate of all aspects of public policy. The public’s business must be conducted in public so the public is aware of how the decisions are made. All local interests should be heard and considered. Influence from outside of the county should never outweigh our own.

Being elected to public office is about more than power. There is great responsibility that comes with office. Debra Lucero and Tami Ritter take that responsibility seriously and make Butte County their priority. They have consistently demonstrated the desire, energy, aptitude, and take the time required to represent their constituents, weighing the needs of all of the residents of Butte County in their decision making.

They come to meetings prepared and educated, asking questions in public so that the public can hear the answers and also be informed. They listen and evaluate information received from speakers at the Board meetings and allow that testimony to inform their decisions. They have earned another term. Please take the time to vote.
