Martin Engebretse­n became a licensed Minister with the Assembly of God denominati­on in the 1950s. He and his wife Murlene pastored churches in Northern California starting the first one in Hayfork, California, and continuing with Arbuckle, Dunsmuir, Weott, & Auburn. They were always a loving couple with open hospitalit­y to everyone. They

accepted a position as Mom and Pop to the US Navy and other Military personnel in Japan for the last 14 years before retirement.

After retirement in 1997, they moved to Paradise California. There at the age of 65, he became legally blind but that did not hinder his service to God and others. The couple became leaders of the Senior Sunday School Class at the Assembly of God Church and were in charge of ˆYoung at Heart a Senior Luncheon opened to the community.

Martin will be remembered as a great example of kindness and caring for others. He personaliz­ed memorials and always brought wit, humor, and individual­ism to marriage and baptismal services and other events for which he was responsibl­e.

Martin was proceeded to heaven by his precious wife, Murlene, his sister Yvonne, mother Ruth, father Martin Senior, grandson Roy Martin and his Son-in-law Donald Jackson.

Martin is survived by his sister Emily, his daughters Linda, her husband Roy, Nancy, Shirley, and son Marty and his wife Lucy. He was 95 years old with 11 grandchild­ren, 19 greatgrand­children. and 3 great-greatgrand­children.

He was a great man with a gentle spirit. He was known as Dad, Brother, Son, Grandpa, Pops, and Martin. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many!

A viewing is scheduled for Friday, June 24, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be a memorial service at the Christ Community Church of Vina, CA at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
