Bracing for next move in court’s playbook

-

The Trump legacy lives on. An attempted overthrow of our constitutional democracy was not successful thanks to the courage of a few good citizens. The carnage from his transformation of the Supreme Court into a latter-day Spanish Inquisition has resulted in policies enabling mass dissemination of military style weapons among the general public, along with the revocation of women’s “natural right” to control their own bodies.

I am fortunate having been born a man, but my love of women catalyzes my belief that they are entitled to the same rights and privileges as men. The Supreme Court abortion ruling is a return to the racist and misogynistic policies of our misguided forebears. Justices Thomas and Alito’s nonsense about historical precedents guiding our present policies is ludicrous.

When push came to shove, the Supreme Court chose the hypothetical well-being of the unborn, over the real-world quality of life of living women. Shame on men (Clarence Thomas) who continue to oppress women and the sheer hypocrisy of believers in supernatural deities, using their allegiance to irrational beliefs, to justify their cruelty in the real world. We all have freedom to choose our beliefs, but the United States government is not a theocracy.

Prepare yourself for the next move in the fascist playbook, if the court attempts to expand their infringement of women’s rights by proscribing contraception. Would the mass dissemination of oral contraceptives into the drinking water be a viable public health response?
