Butte College men complete signing class

Five Roadrunner­s who signed also were part of All-Academic Team

Butte College men's soccer coach Ross Sandberg tells his players that in their time at Butte College, if they want to play at the next level, they need to do 10% of the work. That 10% is succeeding in the classroom, with Sandberg knowing his players will work hard on the soccer field.

The other 90%, which Sandberg considers talking with four-year programs and finding them scholarshi­ps, he will do.

The Roadrunner­s' men's soccer program completed its eight-person signing class for the 2023-24 season with five players signing Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Noris Iten committed to Division II Queens

College in New York; goalkeeper Louis Hester committed to NAIA University of Tennessee Southern in Tennessee; wing Pontus Schmitz Gustafsson committed to D-II University of Bridgeport in Connecticu­t; defender Bilal Tanriverdi committed to McGill University in Quebec, Canada; and midfielder Mohamed Benguellal committed to DIII Bethel University in Tennessee. Benguellal could not make Wednesday's ceremony, as he in France with his family completing his final semester at Butte College online.

All five players were a part of the Golden Valley Conference's All-Academic Team, something Sandberg is very proud of.
