That’s my horse!
I have been a subscriber to EQUUS from the very beginning and look forward to receiving my copy every month. Imagine my surprise when I opened the July 2017 issue and saw a photo of my horse in it! Your article on how long EHV-1 survives in water (“EHV-1 Viability Has Implications for Biosecurity,” Medical Front, EQUUS 478) features a photograph of two American Saddlebreds touching noses over a water trough.
The horses are Royalcrest’s Rock Island (Tucker) on the left, owned by me, and Wit’s Worth (Mikey) on the right, owned by Susan FossPheley. The photo was taken by Jeff
Banks on a wine-ride in the Livermore Valley in California. If we had known about the information in this article then, we might not have had our horses at the trough! Susan Valley Alamo, California
