RUN-DOWN?
Try the breath of fire
When a hectic day leaves your mind and body running on empty, try taking a few rapid-fire breaths in and out through your nose. “This rigorous breathing technique, known as the breath of fire, activates the sympathetic nervous system and stimulates the release of norepinephrine and adrenaline to rev energy and boost alertness,” explains Dr. Gerbarg, coauthor of The Healing Power of the Breath. In fact, this exercise has been shown to chase away fatigue for up to 2 hours. To do: Inhale and exhale through your nose in quick bursts for 15 seconds, keeping your mouth closed but relaxed.
