To make sure pavement, sidewalks and other surfaces aren’t too hot, try this vet-recommended test: Place your hand flat against the ground and hold it there for 5 seconds. If the surface is too hot for your hand, it’s going to scorch your pal’s tender paws, so consider walking him on the grass or waiting for the sun to go down before strolling.
