“Warm weather brings longer days, and that means enjoying family dinners on the back patio again,” smiles Patty Bontekoe, FIRST deputy editor. “My kids always look forward to this time of year—but sometimes flies and other insects crash our fun, so I decided to protect our drinks with apple-slice cup covers. To make them, I just cut an apple into slices and rest one slice on top of each cup. To finish, I pop a straw through the center of the apple slice. These sweet covers are a cinch to make and they keep pests from flying into our drinks—plus, they look surprisingly adorable on the tabletop.”
