Completely unwind on Grand Cayman
Powder-white sand, vibrant blue waters and lush landscapes are what you’ll find on this heavenly island escape
Bask in bliss With its stunning coral sand, beachside bars and swaying palm trees, it’s easy to see why Seven Mile Beach has been named “The Caribbean’s Best Beach”
The largest of the three Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is world-renowned for its gorgeous coral reefs, ancient shipwrecks teeming with marine life, sun-kissed Caribbean beaches and charming villages brimming with history. Whether you’re looking for adventure or a relaxing day in paradise to chase away your cares, this island has it all.
Start your escape at Governor’s Beach, a small but serene spot ideal for avoiding the stress of the tourist hustle and bustle. “There is tons of open space for whatever you desire!” raves Viki P on TripAdvisor.com. “You can bring your towels, a beach mat, a cooler and an umbrella. We will definitely return to get away from the crowds!”
Next, grab a snorkel and head to Smith Cove, famous for its crystalclear waters and coral reefs. Says a reviewer from Iowa, “I saw thousands of fish slowly turning in unison!”
After you towel off, drive to Pedro St. James Historic Site, a restored three-story house from the 18th century. Stroll through the home on your own ($10) or take a guided tour ($15) to marvel at authentic artifacts and period furniture and to learn about the island’s history. “Lovely landscaped grounds overlooking the sea,” says U2066ZGpaulg on TripAdvisor.com. “We had an excellent tour guide and watched a very informative movie about the history of the estate.”
End your day with a visit to Camana Bay, where you can explore the waterfront town’s shops and restaurants, plus climb the observation tower for a stunning view of the sunset. “There’s a beautifully intricate underwater mosaic as you walk up,” says a reviewer from Maine. “And the vantage point of Cayman from here is incredible!”
Great day trip: Cayman Brac
Hop on a flight ($130 round-trip) to spend the day on Grand Cayman’s little sister, Cayman Brac. There, you can explore the island’s 170 caves, learn about its swashbuckling history at the Cayman Brac Museum or meet new brightly feathered friends at the Parrot Preserve. And the breathtaking views from the bluffs of Long Beach or the Brac Lighthouse are a must-see!
Don’t miss: Cayman Spirits Co. Distillery
Stop by Cayman’s only distillery, located in Georgetown, for a tour ($15 per person). Get a behind-the-scenes look at the facility, including a 1,200 gallon copper pot still, and enjoy rum samples in the tasting room.
