With all you’ve got go­ing on as you pre­pare din­ner for your fam­ily, it’s all too easy to for­get about a pot cook­ing on the stove. The sim­ple trick that will pre­vent messy boil-overs: Be­fore you turn on the stove, rub a bit of but­ter or mar­garine on the inside of the pot, about an inch be­low the lip. Any bub­bles that rise as the liq­uid heats up will dis­solve as soon as they hit the grease.
