Clever way to en­sure a freezer is work­ing prop­erly

You’ve low­ered the tem­per­a­ture in your freezer, but food still isn’t stay­ing as cold as it should. Be­fore call­ing a re­pair­man, check to see if a bro­ken rub­ber door seal is to blame. To do: Close the freezer door over a dollar bill, leav­ing half of the bill ex­posed. Slowly pull the bill out. If it slides out with no re­sis­tance, there’s a gap in the re­frig­er­a­tor’s seal that’s let­ting cold air out—a prob­lem that can be solved by sim­ply in­stalling a new door seal.
