Add some pizzazz to your summer kickoff cookout with these make-ahead sips that are perfect for dazzling a crowd

If you like red...

Bold and subtly sweet, this delight gets better the longer it sits, so feel free to make the night before.

To make: In pitcher, muddle 1 diced apple, 1 sliced orange, 1 cup strawberries and 2 Tbs. honey. Add 1 bottle Pinot Noir, 1⁄3 cup brandy and 3⁄4 cup orange juice. Chill 1 hr. or overnight. Serve over ice.

If you like rosé...

Watermelon puree and strawberries elevate the natural sweetness and pretty-in-pink coloring of this wine, plus add energizing antioxidants. To make: In processor, puree flesh of half a seedless watermelon. Pour into pitcher; add 1 bottle rosé, 2 cups strawberries, 1 sliced lemon and 1⁄2 cup vodka. Chill 1 hr. or overnight. Serve over ice.

If you like white...

A triple dose of citrus gives this summery sangria a bright, tangy flavor that’s ideal for cutting the richness of smoky grilled meats, hearty sides and creamy desserts. To make: In large pitcher, muddle 1 sliced lemon and 1 sliced orange with 1⁄4 cup orange juice, 2 Tbs. lime juice, 2 Tbs. lemon juice and 1⁄4 cup Cointreau liqueur; pour in 2 bottles white wine. Chill 1 hr. or overnight. Add 2 cups club soda; serve over ice.
