“I bring home $30,000 a year blogging”

-

“After I had kids, I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but traveling on spring breaks and summer vacations was still a priority for

me. I decided to start a travel blog (TipsForFamilyTrips.com) as a hobby, but as I learned that there was money to be made blogging, I knew it would be a great way to turn my passion for travel into cash.

“I blog about popular family travel destinations like Disneyland, San Diego and New York City. I give travel advice someone might give their friends, like how to save money, where to find discounts, how to make road trips easier with kids and how to pack.

“My largest source of income from the blog is from ad networks like AdThrive and Mediavine, which place ads if you have a minimum amount of page views. I also get paid by companies or visitors bureaus to write sponsored posts about their destinations, and I make money from affiliate links from Amazon and CJ.com when I suggest products in my blog posts.

“I also score free travel with my blog. When my family is already planning a vacation, I’ll contact the visitors bureau in that area, the hotel we’re planning to book or a museum we want to explore and I’ll offer to write a blog post in exchange for a free stay or free passes.

“I love blogging because I can still volunteer for my kids’ PTA and be home for their activities. The money I make pays for our family travel and allows us to take more trips. In fact, this summer we’re going to London and Paris!”
