“The work couldn’t be easier. I simply upload my photos for review, then I receive an email that tells me which ones were accepted or rejected and why. For example, if the focus is off or the image is too bright, they can’t use them.

“I’ve uploaded photos of our RV, road trips we’ve taken and events we’ve attended, like the annual chalk festival in Denver. I use both my DSLR camera and my iPhone to take pictures, and I add keywords to my photos when I post so people can easily find them.

“The photos are stored in Shutterstock’s photo library, and if a company licenses one of mine, I receive up to 30 percent of the fee— between 25 cents and $120 per image. I earn even more depending on how many images are licensed.

“I’m so passionate about shooting travel photos, and the best part is that this work has allowed me to bring my children with me. The money I make—a full-time income—pays the bills and allows us to travel to more places like Texas and Key West.”
