First For Women

Younger eyes, younger you

-

The way to turn back the clock in minutes: Erase any signs of aging around your eyes. Research has revealed that eyes are the first place people look when they try to determine how old you are. Here, A-list makeup artists share their top agedefying tips and tricks!

Crow’s-feet?

Before applying makeup, prep eyes with an illuminating silicone primer—its reflective pigments deflect light from the face for a “blurring effect” that erases lines. And silicone creates a barrier on skin to prevent makeup from settling into— and optically enhancing—creases.

TO DO: Tap a drop of primer (such as e.l.f. Illuminating Face Primer, elfCosmetics.com) under the eye up to the outer edge of the brow; let dry.

Dark circles?

Applying concealer in an inverted “triangle of light” hides bags, says makeup pro David Maderich, who has worked with Patti LaBelle and Kim Basinger. “The shape creates the same shining effect a flashlight would if held under the eye, helping shadows recede.”

TO DO: Use a concealer wand (like Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer, CVS.com) to draw the triangle below the lash line with the tip pointing down. Fill in and blend.

Droopy eyelids?

The trick celebrity makeup artist Amy Zdunowski-Roeder relies on to counteract the sagging skin that makes eyes appear droopy and tired? Apply a champagne-toned highlighter (which Zdunowski-Roeder says flatters all skin tones) in the corner of the eye and beneath the brow’s arch. “Subtle shimmery pigments below the eye bounce light onto whites so they appear wider, countering sagging,” she explains. “And a touch of highlighter along the highest point of the brow brings the bone forward, directing focus up for an instant eye-lift effect.”

TO DO: Run a champagne highlighter stick (we like Ulta Cream Eyeshadow & Liner in Naked Truth, Ulta.com) from the inner corner of the eye to the middle of the lower lid, then in a halfmoon shape below the brow’s arch. Blend with a cotton swab for softness.
