Trimming tips from pros!
String lights vertically
This trick prevents tangled cords and makes removing them at the end of the season so much easier, says Brandon Stephens of The Décor Group. Then just step back and squint. “Blurring the tree makes the lights pop out, so you can easily see any bald spots or crowding.”
Consider this simple garland
Christmas trees are bottom-heavy, so adding horizontal lines with a garland visually balances them. To try the latest trend, consider ribbon. Says Stephens, “You can find one that matches any color scheme, and it adds a refined feel.”
Stay balanced with sections
Divide the tree into sections—say, the bottom left and right, middle left and right and top left and right. Select your largest ornaments first and use the same number in each section. “This makes them look evenly placed,” says Stephens. “Then fill in gaps with smaller pieces.”
