Molasses replaces brown sugar and enhances the chewy goodness of these classic crackly treats

1 Heat oven to 375°F. Coat baking sheets with cooking spray. Combine first 4 ingredient­s; reserve. On medium speed, beat butter and molasses until smooth; beat in eggs, then vanilla. Beat in reserved flour mixture. Cover; chill at least 1 hr.

2 Place 1⁄2 cup sugar in bowl; reserve.

Coat hands with sugar. Using 1 Tbs. per cookie, roll dough into balls; roll in reserved sugar. Place 2" apart on baking sheets. Bake until crackled and firm around edges, 6–8 min. Let cool on pans.
