SOFTEN BUTTER FAST

You’re ready to get mixing, but forgot to set the butter out on the counter to soften. The easy fix:

Cut butter into pieces. Pour boiling water into a heatproof bowl, then spill it out and wipe dry. Invert the bowl over the butter for 5 minutes. The residual heat will soften the pieces without melting them.
