3 STRETCHES THAT BANISH NECK PAIN
SIDE NECK STRETCH
This simple move stretches out the sternocleidomastoid muscles on the sides of the neck.
To do: Sitting with your back straight, wrap your right arm over your head so your right palm rests above your left ear.
Keeping your right elbow pointed down, slowly pull your head sideways toward the right. Hold for 10 seconds.
Repeat on the other side. Repeat as needed.
CHIN TUCK
This stretch targets the trapezius and serratus posterior muscles on the back of the neck.
To do: Grip the back of your head with both hands.
Gently push your head down, trying to bring your chin to the center of your chest. Hold for
10 seconds. Repeat throughout the day as needed.
CHIN PRESS CHEST OPENER
This stretch targets the chest, trapezius muscles in the back and the muscles at the base of the skull.
To do: Stand up straight and clasp your hands behind your back. Pull your hands toward the floor, rolling your shoulders back and down, keeping your chest up and your chin out as far as you can. Hold for
10 seconds. Repeat throughout the day as needed.
