Ark Thrift Store robbed, suspect caught Tuesday

FORT BRAGG » The State of the Ark Thrift Store in Fort Bragg was robbed of nearly $3,500 in merchandis­e Monday morning. The suspect was caught after store surveillan­ce cameras cauptured the robbery in action.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies identified Shawn Spiller, 31, of Fort Bragg, as a suspect in the robbery and while searching for Spiller, located most of the stolen property concealed in the brush surroundin­g the store.

Spiller was located just after midnight the following day near Hare Creek in Fort Bragg, where he was transporte­d and booked into the Mendocino County Jail on charges of alleged burglary. He was also booked on two counts of violation of probation.

In accordance with the Covid-19 emergency order issued by the state’s Judicial Council, Spiller’s bail was set at zero dollars and he was released following the booking process.
