Leggett fire­fight­ers test pos­i­tive for Coro­n­avirus

LEGGETT » Men­do­cino County Health Of­fi­cer Dr. Noemi Doohan con­firmed six new COVID-19 cases at the Leggett Fire Sta­tion in Men­do­cino County. Twelve fire­fight­ers were tested from the sta­tion for the dis­ease and six came back pos­i­tive. Two of the six fire­fight­ers that tested pos­i­tive were from Men­do­cino County.

The six fire­fight­ers are in sta­ble con­di­tion and are in home iso­la­tion as well as their close con­tacts. Due to the out­break, the Leggett Fire Sta­tion along with the Lay­tonville Fire Sta­tion was closed down for 72 hours for what of­fi­cials were call­ing “a deep clean.”

Doohan said she be­lieves that the out­break at the Leggett Fire Sta­tion is fully con­tained, due to the quick re­sponse of Cal Fire and the County of Men­do­cino as well as Fire Chief Bran­don Gunn’s lead­er­ship.
