Carson Gary Templer
Carson was born on Valentine’s Day, 1974, the middle son of Gary and Peggy Templer. He joined brother Travis, who was a year and a half older, soon followed in another year and a half by brother Evan. The three brothers were always together and shared a tight bond. The family was living in Philo when Carson was born, but moved with all three boys to an old homestead outside of Fort Bragg in 1975, where Carson grew up and lived most of his life.
Carson and his brothers were rarely indoors, preferring to be outdoors whenever possible, racing through the woods and always up to something. All three, as a result of their upbringing, developed a lifelong aversion to sitting indoors behind a desk.
From the time he was born, Carson careened exuberantly through life, always up for an adventure, a party, a gathering of friends, a road trip, a challenge; acquiring many friends along the way and always loyal to them.
He was kind, big-hearted, generous, fun, fun-loving and sweet-natured. He worked at a number of jobs - bartender, real estate appraiser, personal trainer, pot grower, and, most recently, worked at the Mendocino Sports Club until Covid-19 eliminated his job.
Carson went back to school to complete his degree at Chico State in 2005. In 2007, he married Angela Lina at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg. In 2010 they welcomed their daughter Leila Yung Templer, the absolute joy of Carson’s life. With her he found his true calling: dad. He loved her more than words can tell. In 2012, Carson, Angela and Leila moved to Sun River, Oregon, then returned to Fort Bragg in 2015 and Carson became a full-time dad while Angela worked at the family restaurant. They moved into a cottage on his mother’s property which had been built for them and Carson lived there for the duration of his life.
Carson was very athletic - he wrestled and played football in high school, then as an adult enjoyed surfing, diving, paddle boarding, skiing, and playing golf. He loved toys! He loved Hawaii!
Carson is survived by his wife, Angela Lina; daughter, Leila Templer; mother, Peggy Templer; father and stepmother, Gary and Patsy Templer; brothers Travis and Evan Templer; stepbrother Steffan Winkler and stepsister Meredith Emory; nieces Maya Templer and Ellis Petrykowski; family friend Terrance Huber; many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws; friends too numerous to mention; and the little dog Bean, who he loved dearly. His passing leaves an enormous, gaping hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A memorial celebration of Carson’s life is planned for a later date.
