AMERICA VOTES

The vote count in the presidential race wore into the night with no result in sight early Wednesday after a massive surge in early voting across the country turned an already turbulent election into a nail-biter with key battleground states hanging in the balance.

Both candidates projected confidence the results would go their way — with Democratic nominee Joe Biden addressing supporters at a drive- in rally in Delaware shortly after 12:30 a. m. Wednesday, while Republican President Trump spoke from the White House after 2 a.m.

“We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” Trump said after Texas and two key swing states, Florida and Ohio, broke his way.

But as ballot- counting continued, Trump claimed there was “major fraud in our nation” without providing examples.

“We’ll be going to the U. S. Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any ballots at 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to the list,” Trump said, though voting has stopped across the nation.

Biden urged his supporters to be “patient” and “keep the faith.”

“We feel good about where we are, we really do,” Biden said. “We believe we’re on track to win this election.”

Biden notched a swing- state win late Tuesday night when the Associated Press called New Hampshire and its four electoral votes in his favor. Even as larger prizes in states his campaign played for fell to Trump, Biden said he felt “good” about Wisconsin and Michigan and said “we’re going to win Pennsylvania.”
