Caspar book sale will benefit Jug Handle’s Nature Center
CASPAR » Books on ecology, birds, geology, education, conservation, travel, astronomy, science and more will be sold Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the new bunkhouse beside Highway 1 in Caspar at Jug Handle Creek Farm & Nature Center
emodeling of the Nature Library in the farmhouse to double as a handicapped-accessible bedroom brought new bookshelves but reduced shelf space for books. Volunteer librarians kept the best newest books for display there but hundreds of older titles are now surplus and for sale. A kid’s book on the life of a deer may look a little cover worn but the knowledge inside that books hasn’t changed and the illustrations are still great.
Holidays are coming, so think of these recycled books as great inexpensive gifts. How many other readers enjoyed the book in your hands before it was now yours? You don’t have to leave the coast to find bargains!
As a buyer, you are helping a local non-profit educational facility that has had to shut down services during the pandemic. Jug Handle can’t accommodate a bus full of kids on a field trip during coronavirus times but can host a book sale with people masked and social distancing.
Katy Tahja is also the author of six books of local history. She will be selling and autographing these and donating a portion of her profits back to Jug Handle Creek Farm & Nature Center. Come take a look at her newest book, “An Eclectic History of Mendocino County,” and discover Jug Handle’s Nature Center and the Ecological Staircase trail.
Book prices are dirt cheap. It’s a great opportunity to take a peek at the newest facility available to rent for meetings and gatherings and accommodation when restrictions for the pandemic end. Call (707) 937-5854 for more information about the event.
