MTC continues ‘on the air’

Mendocino Theatre Company’s 2020 Reading Series continues ‘on the air!” On Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., gather ’round the radio (or iPhone or computer or tablet) for a reading of works by Edgar Allan Poe, featuring actors Janet Atherton, Nancy Bartke, Daniel Brewer, Mark Friedrich, Mervin Gilbert, Mark Jordan,

Scott Menzies, and Steven P. Worthen. This reading, directed by Lynn Sotos, will feature four of Poe’s most beloved poems— “The Raven,” “The Bells,” “Annabel Lee,” and “The Conqueror Worm” — along with dramatic adaptation­s of two short stories “The Cask of Amontillad­o” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” MTC’s “American Gothic” will be broadcast on KZYX, 90.7 FM. MAC presents ‘The Strength of Women’

The Mendocino Art Center presents “The Strength of Women,” an online exhibition honoring the life and public service of recently deceased Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The exhibition will run from Thursday, Nov. 5 through Tuesday, Dec. 1. The show features 40 works celebratin­g women created by four female Pacific Coast artists — Julie Higgins, Rogene Mañas, Sandy Oppenheime­r and Sue Ellen Parkinson — who are each inspired by the diversity, resilience and strength of women throughout the world. Mendocino Film Festival presents ‘ruth weiss, the beat goddess’

The Mendocino Film Festival is proud to present a three-day online screening of the new documentar­y “ruth weiss, the beat goddess,” directed by Melody C. Miller. The film has garnered praise as a loving portrait of a pioneering woman of the beat generation, who was able to persevere and create art despite many challenges. Tickets will be available to purchase from Friday, Nov. 13-Saturday, Nov. 15 at ruthweissf­ilm.com/screenings.

Beat goddess ruth weiss, who passed away in late July at her home in Albion, was a beloved member of the Mendocino Coast community.
