Pets of the week

- Staff report

Ten-year-old Lucy is as smart as she is cuddly. She is still a happy and rambunctious girl who loves cuddles, fetching, and exploring new trails. Lucy came to us with her housemate, Shaker, after their previous owner, unfortunately, passed away. When she was brought in, she had a large, cancerous mass on her back leg that was removed and has been recovering for the last few weeks. Now that she is cancer-free, Lucy’s wish is to have a person to call her own! Lucy has a positive and friendly spirit and has all the best qualities of a senior dog: easygoing, respectful, and fully housebroken! Lucy has a thick fluffy coat and loves to be brushed. She also knows basic commands and is food motivated. When it comes to other dogs, Lucy can be a bit picky. She likes her old housemate, Shaker, but we haven’t had the chance to introduce her to other dogs because she has been recovering. She is not a fan of cats. Lucy would love a home where she can be treasured as the only pet and treated like the queen she is!

Gentle giant Dutchie (born in 2015) isn’t too sold on life in the shelter, and who can blame her. While this torbie girl can often be found lurking in a safe hiding spot, she loves attention and will quickly emerge for some pets, purring almost immediately. If you take a seat next to her, she might even crawl into your lap (there will probably be some overflow). Don’t be fooled by her skeptical expression: Dutchie is very sweet and interested in whatever life might have to offer!

This mellow cat gets along with other cats here at the Humane Society. We don’t know how she feels about young children and dogs, but very active young children might be overwhelming for her.
