Golf Notes: A swell day to play

-

What a swell day to play golf last Sunday, October 3rd and golf we played nine teams of us thirtysix players total. Last Sunday was the day to play in the Campbell Scramble. In the scramble format, each team player hits their tee shot then the team chooses which ball to hit next, and then everyone swings again. When the team approaches the green the first ball on the green has to be putted then the team can choose which ball to putt from the second ball on the green. Obviously, the first shot to the green is executed by the team’s best chipper. Both putts on each hole are scored. The teams are arranged by the

Men’s Club to represent an equal assortment of handicaps high and low on each team.

The 2021 Campbell Scramble was won by the team composed of Eric

Shellman, Bruce Woodruff, Paul Cookenboo, and Mr. David A Swensen. This team was 18 under par shooting a 124 for the 18 holes. Taking second place was team Phil Dunn, Larry A Miller, David Coddington, and Kathleen Gibney. The Dunn team was 14 shots under par scoring a team 128. Nailing third place was team James Corsar, Mr. Terry Stratton, Gloria Van Tassel, and Terry Ramos. The third-place team was 12 under par shooting a 130. Closest to the pin on hole number two/eleven was Eric Shellman bringing his ball to a stop at ten feet two inches from the hole. On hole number seven Eric Shellman did it again at ten feet one and a half inches from the hole edging out Phil Dunn by a mere half an inch. On hole number nine Mr. David Swensen shot his ball within six feet three and a half inches from going in. David used an interesting technique on this shot. His ball hit the cart path to the right of

shape until your percentage of making balls recovers. Then you can start using spin again to get the shape. Contact me at mcbohanon@gmail.com.
